Dear Friends of Byard Lancaster,
It is our sad duty to inform Byard Lancaster's many friends, colleagues, fans, and fellow musicians that a great man, who changed the world with his music, Byard Lancaster, multi instrumentalist, Philly sax, jazz, blues, funk, folk, African world beat saxophone, flute, percussionist, vocalist and ambassador of Philly jazz and blues sound to the world, the internationally known internationalist, Byard Lancaster, has passed away on the morning of Thursday August 23, 2012, at his home in Philadelphia with his loving family close by, of complications due to pancreatic cancer. His influence on the music of the world is immense and incalculable. Byard's family will be organizing a celebration of his life and music at a date to be announced in October at La Rose Jazz Club in Philadelphia. Please say a prayer for Byard, and lets remember all the great things he did out of the kindness of his heart for so many people around the world through his love of music, and his avant gaarde instrumental genius, imagination, and spirituality. Byard picture above is from the February 2012 "Black History Month Salute to Byard Lancaster Jazz and Blues Giant of Love Peace and Unity" event where the City of Philadelphia honored him for his contributions to Philly jazz and blues music, which is known worldwide, thanks to Byard Lancaster. More photos from the Salute to Byard Lancaster can be seen on our website in the Photo Gallery. We are eternally grateful to Byard for all that he has done for us, because it was, after all, Byard Lancaster who founded the "Lisa Chavous and the Philadelphia Blues Messengers Band." Thank you Byard, for everything.

Hello Blues Friends--
We would like to thank Jonny Meister at WXPN radio in Philadelphia and Baltimore for making the songs "One People, One World, One Blues" and "Wang Dang Doodle" from our CD Blues Addiction two of the biggest hits on his show from July through December and for playing them almost every week. We are honored that Jonny Meister listed our original song of "One People, One World, One Blues", as one of Jonny's top new blues songs of 2010. We encourage our fans to keep requesting that he continues to play cuts from our CDs.
