The Blues Messengers will be opening the evening concert at 7:25 PM on the Walnut Lane Stage on Saturday June 23. Joining Byard Lancaster and the Blues Messengers within the 50 minute set, the dynamic Lisa Chavous will knock the crowd out with her powerful vocals, drawing comparisons to such old-school blueswomen as Ruth Brown, Etta James, and Tina Turner. Following the Blues Messengers will be the iconic and supersonic strains of the pioneering Sun Ra Arkestra, led by Marshall Allen.
